The Koenigsegg Regera, unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show in 2015 and then launched into production in 2016, marks a pivotal step in the evolution of the Swedish brand. Designed in parallel with the Agera RS, it inaugurates a new direction more focused on comfort, driving pleasure and hybrid innovation, while maintaining the performance fundamentals dear to Koenigsegg. This model was limited to 80 units, all quickly allocated, which makes it one of the most exclusive series of the manufacturer.
Koenigsegg Regera available
Unlike models like the Agera or the Jesko, more focused on raw performance and track use, the Regera aims to be more versatile, with a grand touring vocation. This approach is reflected both in its technical design and in its user experience, without denying the technological and mechanical DNA of the brand.
Koenigsegg Regera aesthetic
Aesthetically, the Regera retains the fluid and tense lines specific to Koenigsegg, while integrating specific elements aimed at improving its aerodynamic efficiency and ease of use. The configuration of the unit presented here β British Racing Green finish β perfectly illustrates this desire to combine exterior elegance and exclusive character. The forged wheels, active aerodynamic elements and removable carbon fiber roof are integrated into a silhouette optimized for speed, but also designed for everyday use.
Koenigsegg Regera motorisation
Under its hood, the Regera features an innovative hybrid powertrain, combining a 5.0-liter twin-turbo V8 mounted in the rear central position with three electric motors. This architecture is associated with the Koenigsegg Direct Drive (KDD), a patented system that replaces the conventional transmission with a fixed gear ratio, thus eliminating gear changes. The combined power reaches 1,500 horsepower, with 2,000 Nm of torque, allowing a 0 to 100 km/h in 2.8 seconds and a top speed above 400 km/h.
The development of this technology is based on a clear philosophy: to offer an immediate response to acceleration, without torque interruption, while limiting mechanical losses related to traditional transmissions. Inspired by the performance of electric vehicles, the founder Christian von Koenigsegg wanted to reproduce this sensation of smooth and continuous acceleration, while retaining the mechanical expressiveness of a thermal V8. The optimization of mass β thanks to an intensive use of composite materials and the integration of an ultra-compact hybrid system β makes it possible to keep the weight at around 1,590 kg when empty.
