This architecture is associated with the Koenigsegg Direct Drive (KDD), a patented system that replaces the conventional transmission with a fixed gear ratio, thus eliminating gear changes. The combined power reaches 1,500 horsepower, with 2,000 Nm of torque, allowing a 0 to 100 km/h in 2.8 seconds and a top speed above 400 km/h.
The development of this technology is based on a clear philosophy: to offer an immediate response to acceleration, without torque interruption, while limiting mechanical losses related to traditional transmissions. Inspired by the performance of electric vehicles, the founder Christian von Koenigsegg wanted to reproduce this sensation of smooth and continuous acceleration, while retaining the mechanical expressiveness of a thermal V8. The optimization of mass – thanks to an intensive use of composite materials and the integration of an ultra-compact hybrid system – makes it possible to keep the weight at around 1,590 kg when empty.
